Terrassa recorded 141 homes lost to evictions in 2025

Terrassa recorded 141 homes lost through evictions in 2025, according to the councillor for Social Housing Policies, Lluïsa Melgares. She linked the figure to the debate in Congress after the rejection of the national housing decrees and argued that those measures could have prevented around 200 families a year in the city from losing their homes.

Evictions are court-ordered removals, usually at the end of proceedings over non-payment or the end of a contract. The rejected decrees sought to strengthen protections for vulnerable households and broaden intervention tools in the rental market, against a backdrop of high price pressure and a shortage of affordable housing.

For landlords and tenants, the fall of these measures leaves a more uncertain framework. It is worth following which rules remain in force and what alternatives may be approved.
