Sabadell sees more than one eviction a day, mostly affecting tenants

Sabadell is now seeing more than one eviction a day, and seven out of ten people affected come from the rental sector. The tenants’ union, the PAH and also landlords called for structural measures after the failure of the Government’s housing decrees, which they described as insufficient and as a “sticking plaster”.

The rise in rental-related removals reflects a familiar strain in many cities: high rents, expiring contracts and households with little financial room for manoeuvre. The PAH emerged around mortgage evictions, while tenants’ unions have focused on pressure in the rental market. Both now converge in calling for stronger housing protection.

For tenants, the figures point to growing vulnerability in renting. For landlords, they show that any regulatory change affects an already strained market, making it important to review obligations and safeguards before signing or renewing contracts.
