Residents of protected homes in Terrassa warn of falling façade fragments

Around a hundred residents of protected homes in Terrassa have warned that fragments are falling from the façades of their buildings. They fear further detachments could occur and that someone could be injured if the cause is not addressed.

Protected housing is subject to public conditions on access, price or use, but the buildings require the same technical maintenance as any other property. When façade elements come loose, the usual step is to assess the condition of the cladding and take safety measures to prevent risks in public areas or shared spaces.

For owners and tenants, the case underlines the importance of monitoring a building’s condition and clarifying who is responsible for each intervention, depending on ownership, the community, the administration or the contract. If there is a risk, a technical assessment and a formal record of incidents are advisable.
