PAH says the housing decrees are insufficient and will not stop the problem

The PAH considers the new housing decrees insufficient and argues that they will not halt the housing problem. The organisation, historically focused on defending people struggling to pay their mortgage or rent, is calling for stronger measures in response to the lack of access to affordable homes.

The debate comes amid pressure on rents, a shortage of supply in many cities and growing conflict over evictions or the end of tenancy agreements. Decrees are rules approved by the Government that can take effect quickly, but they need political validation if they are to remain in force.

For landlords and tenants, the PAH’s position suggests that social and political pressure over housing will continue. It does not in itself create new changes, but it is worth following the parliamentary process and the final wording of the measures.
